Homage to the House Plant (and those who grow them): Sarah W. Hale

I’m 86.

As far back as I can remember, I have always liked plants — indoors and outdoors.

I’ve been doing hair since I was 10. I like to see the change.

If you take care of [plants], they will kind of in a way take care of you.

If they shine, I shine.

Plants is like hair. If you’re healthy, your hair’s healthy. If my plants are healthy, then I know I’m healthy.

[I had 42+ children I was a foster parent for.] Plants is like working with children. You have to be tender with children, and you have to be tender with plants.
