Alaina Honza is 10 years old and excited about starting middle school in Cape Girardeau this fall. She says she is anxious to meet her teachers and classmates and hopes she gets to have a locker to keep her things in.

This next big step comes with its own set of excitements and challenges, especially in the midst of a pandemic.

“I am the most excited about seeing my friends, and I am looking forward to meeting new kids from other elementary schools,” she says. “I am nervous because we might have to go back to online learning.”

Alaina’s wisdom about starting something new: “If you start something, you should stick with it. Make it fun!”
