Story Corps, storycorps.org: StoryCorps documents the stories of people from across the nation, through recording meaningful conversations with people from all backgrounds. These recordings are archived at the Library of Congress. It works like this: invite someone you love to have a conversation, and then attend a StoryCorps recording event, or use the StoryCorps app to record it from anywhere.
The Race Card Project, theracecardproject.com: A project created by journalist Michelle Norris, The Race Card Project invites people to submit a six-word essay about their feelings, dreams and thoughts related to race. These essays are posted online, to start and continue a candid conversation about race in America and across the globe.
St. Louis Story Stitchers Artists Collective, storystitchers.org: This group, comprised of professional artists and urban youth ages 15-24, works to promote understanding, civic pride, intergenerational relationships and literacy through collecting local stories and reframing them through art, writing and performance. Their goal is to promote a better-educated, more peaceful and caring region through storytelling. Watch their seriously cool performances on their website.
