July is a vacation time for most people. As such, here are some true and fantastical travel stories to get you in the adventurous spirit!

Tracks: A Woman’s Solo Trek Across 1700 Miles of Australian Outback by Robyn Davidson is an inspiring true account of the author’s journey through wild Australia with only her camels as her companions.

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon is a romantic journey through time and Scotland. And did I mention attractive Highlanders?

One Year Off: Leaving It All Behind for a Round-the-World Journey with Our Children by David Elliot Cohen is a familial memoir about creating once-in-a-lifetime adventures with the whole family without the distractions of modern life.

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix Harrow is an adventurous journey of self-discovery through books that lead to other worlds – love and mystery and danger, oh my!

If you’re interested in reading about more travel stories – from our world and others – there are plenty of titles to choose from at the Cape Girardeau Public Library.
